What should we wear?

Neutral, earthy, and natural tones for outfits photograph best, and coordinate well without being overly matching. Light, breathable clothing is always recommended here in Florida. Avoid “loud’ colors, busy patterns, and logos or graphic tee’s that can be distracting. If you need any guidance or advice, I am always happy to help you choose outfits, or send outfit inspiration and ideas!

I suggest women consider wearing a medium or long dresses instead of pants, because dresses can capture movement and generally are more flattering. Short dresses may create a challenge if there is a lot of wind, or when if do any seated photos, so keep that in the back of your mind!

Gentlemen are also advised to take bulky items such as wallets, phones and car keys out of their pockets before we start snapping pictures!

What is the best time to shoot at?

It is recommended to try to schedule your family session on a weekday evening around golden hour, either just after / during sunrise or sunset. This enables us to achieve the softest and flattering lighting for your photos, and helps to avoid any weekend crowds at locations.

What if I want to bring extended family?

The more family, the better! Feel free to include grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and whoever else has a special place in your heart! We will capture all the family groupings and sub-group combinations of family members, along with catching some fun candid shots in between!

Composition and Posing:

I will work with you and your family to achieve a variety of posed and candid shots. I’ll guide you with fun and engaging prompts that induce natural reactions, smiles, and interactions with one another. Remember, this session is about having fun, making memories, and capturing precious moments with your family. Stay relaxed, and let natural interactions happen. If you have younger children, toddlers, or babies, play and goof around with them, give lots of tickles, chase them around. throw them on top of your shoulders, give them a little swing in the air, and have a good time! Often, the best photos are captured letting kids be kids, and not forcing or putting too much pressure on them when it comes to posing.

Please share your ideas, vision, and any specific shots you would like to try to incorporate. I will be sure to stay in touch with you leading up to your session, helping you choose the most ideal location for your family. I will always check in with you 24 hours prior to our photoshoot together.

Should I bring Snacks if I have young children?

Bringing snacks along is never a bad idea! This can help keep kids engaged, and also can act as a “reward” for taking pictures.
